Whenever I shop, I always check first to see if what I’m looking for can be purchased from a small business. Not only does it help that business grow, but it also creates a unique and personal experience for the customer.

A small business, especially one that creates something from nothing, carries its owner’s personality, values, and heart in every product.
When you hold that product in your hand, you’re holding a story of passion and determination, evidence of long days and even longer nights, and the “heart” of someone who refused to give up. That’s something you just don’t get from a large, impersonal company.
Today, people want to connect with brands on a deeper level. They want to know the story behind the product, and they want to feel good about supporting it.
Finding Shen & Sam
When I discovered Shen & Sam, I instantly loved the owner’s story. On her site, she wrote:
“Sometimes it takes the better part of a lifetime to find out what your passion is, but in my observation, if you do, it might be the best part of your life.”
That spoke to me deeply. And when I learned how she came up with the name for her company, I knew this was a business I wanted to support. And since I happened to be in the market for natural candles (of course!), I ordered!
