Why I created Sans Skincare

Sans Skincare began with my mother.

During her final months of life, her skin became incredibly fragile, and I couldn’t find anything truly natural that felt gentle enough to soothe and nourish it. So I made something myself, a rich, comforting body butter crafted with love and intention. That simple act of care became the seed of this brand.

I dreamed of building Sans with my beautiful sister, whose strength, spirit, and spark shaped so much of who I am. Life had other plans, but her loving presence remains woven into every formula, every ritual, and every expression of care that Sans stands for.

Over time, what began as skincare became something deeper for me. I came to understand that skin is not separate from the rest of us. Our skin reflects the life we live. The way we rest, nourish ourselves, move, connect, experience joy, carry stress, and care for ourselves all belong to a much larger picture.

That is why Sans has never been only about what we put on our skin. It is also about the moment we take to apply it. The warmth of our hands. A familiar botanical scent. A breath. A pause. A small reminder that the person we are caring for matters too.

Sans is for anyone who believes care matters, for those who spend their days building, giving, tending, beginning again, caring for someone they love, or simply trying to make a little more room for themselves within the fullness of everyday life.

I know something about that. I have walked the path of caretaking, of holding things together, of putting my own needs aside. And I know how easy it can be to move through our days without noticing how much of ourselves we are giving away.

Sans means “without.” To me, it has come to mean letting go of some of the pressure, the perfection, the noise, and the idea that beauty is something we must constantly chase.

My hope for Sans is simple: To create beautiful botanical skincare that genuinely cares for the skin.

To share rituals, knowledge, and ideas that help us care for the whole person.

To encourage care for one another.

And to remind us to notice those perfectly ordinary moments while we are still inside them, because time has a way of revealing just how extraordinary those moments really were.

That is the heart of Sans: to care deeply, live attentively, and notice the beauty already present in ourselves and the life around us.
